
Dubai customs aborted during the past few days a major attempt to smuggle rough diamond worth AED 4 million through Terminal 1 of Dubai International Airport.
Customs inspectors at Terminal 1 Inspection Section suspected, by virtue of the advanced and professional training in body language, a female passenger of an African nationality when arriving at the Airport inspection point as she was behaving suspiciously.
Using the intestines detector machine, a sophisticated prohibitions detector device worldwide, the official discovered that 2 clothing bags were wrapped around the suspect body as well as 2 sealed bags of rough diamond in an attempt to smuggle them into the country.
The seizures, which have been assessed by the Customs valuation Department at Dubai Customs, found to be rough diamond weighing 53.500 crates and worth AED 4.325.500.
The Customs management took the necessary measures and detained the seized quantity of diamonds.
Based on the joint coordination and cooperation with Dubai Police, the passenger has been transferred to the relevant security agencies for further legal action.
