
The Employees Relations Section at the Human Resources Division of Dubai Customs held in collaboration with the Health Education Section at the Department of Health and Medical Services last week a contest on “healthy diet” at the sidelines of World Food Day that proclaimed by UN in 1980 alerting the importance of providing healthy food being a requisite for human survival and well-being.
The contest comes as part of Dubai customs keenness to enhance food awareness in the society in general and among Dubai Customs staff in particular. This is in addition to enhance Dubai Customs employees' participation in safety and general health related issues, which helps its efficient contribution to the emirate's social development, a major organizational role along with its leading role in supporting the international legitimate trade that benefits Dubai higher economic interests.
A large number of Dubai Customs employees from different departments and divisions have taken part in the contest which reflects the advanced awareness level of employees and their eagerness to best serve and develop the local society by underlining the importance of healthy diet as per the slogan: "sound mind in sound body".
The contest's results were sorted at the office of the Executive Director of the Human Resources Division, Feryal Tawakul, and the winners were: Tarek Issa Yousef from Jebel Ali Inspection, Omar Al Barky from the IT Division and Suad Adnan Dawood from the Valuation Department in Dubai Customs.
A special ceremony was held at the Ibn Rashid Hospital's medical library in a gesture to honor the winners where gifts and symbolic prizes were offered by Shamma Khalaf Al Marri, Employees Relations Section at Dubai Customs and Ali Al Marzouki from the Health Education Section at the Department of Health and Medical Services
It is worth mentioning that the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization celebrates the World Food Day on the 16 of October of each year, day of the organization Launch in 1945. The General Assembly of the United Nations has approved in 1980 the decision to celebrate this day taking into account that the fact that the food is a must for the human being especially following the starvation spreading in different parts of the world.
